I want to use the Sea Fox design from the BYOUR book with some modifications. I want it to have some sort of controller on board and I am pretty determined to use a Rasberry Pi as we already have several and I have a sense of how I can use them. The book talks about using Rule Bilge Pumps as thrusters, some specs are here:http://www.rulepumpsupply.com/Bilge_Pumps.html I was thinking of the smallest one, three total for up down, side to side, and back and forth. In order to control a motor with a Pi you use an L298n motor controller for up to two motors except the motors are rated at at least 3 amps and the controller only goes to 2 amps, so I was trying to find something as inexpensive as the L298n controller for the higher amperage. I think that is all it would take for now to start building. The only other highly techie part would be controlling with a joy stick. The camera should be easy. Then we are left with some sort of a waterproof design and the teather. By the way the motors are rated to over one hundred feet so they will not be the weak point in our depth limit. Let me know if you have any ideas on the controllers, motors and Pi, I am ready to order 3 motors and as many controllers as necessary.
